The popular “Kenya Music Week ” is back, bigger and better, this time as the East African Music Summit to encompass the entire region. This was a result of requests from other countries to be included in the week long festival of musical showcase.2017 will be the 2nd edition of the now “Ongea”Exhibition. Alot is expected out of the exhibition with 58 Stands from industry leaders in the Music Business, star studded performances from the biggest acts in the Kenyan industry such as Mercy Masika, Victoria Kimani, Hart The Band and Femi One (just to mention a few) and 8 great discussion panels from the best minds in the business. Mdundo , Africa’s leading music service, will be rewarding artists according to their music downloads unlike voting by the fans or judges as is the norm in other Awards schemes. There are 7 categories and so expect fireworks and stiff competition from one another.
The countries that are expected to participate include Burundi,Comoros,Djibouti,Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayottee, Reunion, Uganda, Seychelles,Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda thereby being one of the biggest music festivals in the continent.Such events open the artists to a wider market to explore their potential and hear different sounds to improve and experiment on their craft and also learn the business.This 4 day event will begin from Thursday 16th February to 19th February Sunday 2017 and aims to capitalize on the 3 pillars of Trade, Learn and Showcase talents from the different parts of the continent.
